Woman found guilty of murdering partner goes to prison for 16 years

A 26-year-old woman who murdered her partner in Gran Canaria has been sentenced to 16 years in prison, after being found guilty of stabbing to death Jordi Burón in 2013.

Arantxa Amoedo, originally from Galicia, said during her trial she said that she acted in self-defence, however when quizzed by police in the initial investigation, she said that her partner could no longer keep her in the lifestyle she had become accustomed to.

The jury however unanimously convicted her of murder, after hearing how she attacked him in his bed, and then hid the body for 3 weeks.
