British endurance swimmer suffers bad stings

An endurance swimmer from the UK has had to postpone her attempt at the Balearic Island Challenge on Thursday, after suffering severe jellyfish stings.

40-year-old Anna Wardley was on the first leg of what would have been a 215km swim around the islands whilst not wearing a wet suit, however she was pulled from the water suffering from an adverse reaction to the stings, and slipping in and out of consciousness.

She was rushed to hospital in Menorca for treatment. She has since been released and will head to Mallorca by ferry to discuss plans for the next stage of her swim.
