Farmers urged to use traditional wind breaks on farms
Farmers in Lanzarote are being encouraged to use traditional materials to act as wind shelters for their crops in an aim to beautify the local scenery.
The scheme, an effort to stop the agricultural sector using concrete blocks, boxes and cartons will pay a subsidy to farmers who adopt the traditional practices.
The Cabildo has confirmed they will provide funding for any farmer who plants at least 150 metres of the hedging, known as bardos.
