New Puerto Rico – Mogán motorway to be completed by March 2013

The new part of the GC-1 motorway between Puerto Rico and Mogán is due to be completed within two months. The opening date of this new part of the motorway is the 16th March 2013. The project, which was originally quoted at €111 million, has ended up costing €140 million. 60% of the motorway is underground in tunnels. After the completion of the roadworks, which started in February 2009, the estimated time it will take to travel between the islands Gando airport and Mogán will be just 35 minutes. It will also avoid the need to use the GC-200 road which suffers the threat of landslides.
