Santa Cruz (Tenerife) loses 660 businesses in 2010
Santa Cruz has seen the closure of 660 businesses during the year of 2010, a huge increase over previous years. This figure represents the closure of 16% of all businesses in the capital of the island, the highest figure in Spain. This figure has been referred to as ‘alarming’ due to the fact that between 2006 and 2008 only 66 businesses closed down. In September 2010 there were 2.942 active businesses in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
