Tenerife sales down 35.1% in 2009

Fedeco, Tenerife’s commerce federation, in conjunction with 262 small and medium sized businesses, have come up with figures stating that sales in Tenerife fell by over 35% in 2009 when compared with similar figures in 2008 (which was already down o nthe previous years figures). The figures are slightly higher for the south of the island (Arona, Adeje y Guía de Isora) with figures of 37.3% and Puerto de La Cruz registering a fall of 36.9%. In the same survey 38.6 % of businesses think that the situation will get worse, while 45.6% think it will stay the same and only 12% think the situation will improve in 2010.
