3 million passengers visit Canary Islands airports

Nearly 3 million passengers passed through the airports in the Canaries in May, after numbers rose 14.4% on last year.

New routes as well as changes in tourism habits are being attributed for the increase. Gran Canaria and Tenerife South were the busiest airports, with over 800,000 passengers passing through Gran Canaria.

As well as passengers, freight traffic increased by 5% on the same time last year.
