Disabled man left stranded at Alicante Elche airport

Staff at Alicante Elche airport have been heavily criticised after a 73-year-old disabled man was left stranded at the airport for 24 hours, after staff failed to assist him.

Billy Howard was due to fly on a Ryanair flight to Manchester, and he insists that disabled assistance was booked. He was left stranded after no staff came to his assistance, despite repeated calls for help, and tannoy announcements for Mr. Howard.

However in a statement the airline said that disabled assistance had not been booked with the airline, and only with the local handling agent – Lesma Handling. It is understood they failed to let Ryanair know about Mr. Howard.
