Low passenger usage on high speed network questioned

Questions are being asked about Spain’s High Speed Rail network, after it emerged that one in four AVE stations are used by fewer than 100 passengers a day.

Spain has currently the second largest high-speed network in the world, however it appears that not all stations are getting the passenger numbers that had been hoped for.

2 stations in Valencia are amongst the least used stations on the network. The study also shows only 3 lines on the network make money, and only 3.4% of train passengers nationally use the high-speed network.
