Restrictions on hotel rooms didn’t impact tourism

Official figures have been released that show that between 2001 and 2009, over 80,000 new hotel beds were built, despite there being a moratorium on hotel construction.

Now a report from the University of La Laguna has shown that the restrictions did not have too much of an impact on tourism growth in the islands.

The report also says that tourists are now looking for a higher standard of hotel, but at a lower price.
