Off duty Guardia Civil arrested for shooting driver

A Guardia Civil officer was arrested on Monday after shooting a driver over a traffic dispute on the Valencia A-3 motorway.

The charged officer is reported to have fired at his 39-year-old victim five times in the head after a prolonged car chase.

It’s understood the officer, who was off duty at the time due to medical leave, was involved in a small car accident and gave chase before shooting the victim.

Investigators are now reviewing camera footage to establish a chain of events leading up to the shooting.
