Canary Islands pay tribute to victims of building collapse

A minute’s silence was observed yesterday across the archipelago as a mark of respect to those that lost their lives on Thursday’s building collapse in Los Cristanos.

7 died and 3 were injured in the collapse, with 80 people still homeless whilst works continue to make the site safe.

Hundreds of people attended the minute’s silence, observed at Plaza del Pescador, outside the Los Cristianos Cultural Centre, with local Mayor José Julián Mena praising those who helped to recover the injured and dead.
