Cigarette smuggler arrested at Alicante-Elche airport

A Russian who tried to smuggle 1,320 packets of cigarettes into Spain via Alicante-Elche airport has been arrested.

The passenger was carrying 820 packs of the “Kopaha” brand of cigarettes, valued at 3,500 euro, plus 500 packs of “Winston” cigarettes worth 2,500 euro.

Specialist officers arrested the man whilst he was waiting to collect his suitcases which were packed with the cigarettes.
