Angela Merkel visits Canaries

Hot on the heals of British PM David Cameron’s holiday to Lanzarote, German chancellor Angela Merkel has taken a break in La Gomera.

This will be the German Chancellors fourth visit to the island, and see’s a sharp increase in security across the islands.

She arrived in Tenerife on Friday, where she caught a ferry across to the island, where she will be staying at one of the top hotels in the archipelago.
