Power cuts affect most of Tenerife

Over 20 towns and cities across Tenerife were affected by a widespread power outage, that lasted just over half an hour in most cases.

Over 200000 customers in the north of the island, including the city of La Laguna, and the capital Santa Cruz, were left without electricity. In the south, Adeje, Guía de Isora and Santiago del Teide were all left without a supply.

Electricity firm Endesa said the cut was not caused by its two power stations but somewhere in the grid system, for which it is not responsible.
