73 year old German hiker found alive after 112 emergency call

The ‘Mountain Group’ part of the Guardia Civil have found a 73-year German hiker who was lost on Tuesday in and area of Guia de Isora on the island of Tenerife. The man had been missing for nearly 48 hours after straying off a path in the west cooast of the island. A GES helicopter was used to rescue the man and evacuate him to a hospital after he was reported to be in a ‘poor’ condition. The search involved an emergency helicopter, the fire brigade, Guardia Civil and Anaga Emergency Assistance (AEA).

The emergency services said that it was the hiker himself who made the emergency call at 09:40 and alerted them that he had strayed into an unknown area and required assistance.
