Woman drowns in Sonneland resort pool

A woman has been found dead today after drowning in a swimming pool in a complex in Avenida Tour Operador Neckermann in Sonneland in the municipality of San Bartolome in the south of Gran Canaria. A call was made to the emergency services via the 112 number at 17:42 today (Thursday, 13th June 2013) reporting that there was a woman floating face down in the resort pool.

An SUC ambulance attended the scene along with local police from San Bartolome but she was pronounced dead at the scene. At the moment the womans nationality is not known nor whether she is a tourist staying at the resort or resident of the island.
