Filming commences in Tenerife for new Fast and the Furious movie

Filming of the new ‘Fast and the Furious 6’ movie has started on the island of Tenerife where so far over 50 of the 100 vehicles have been used in the area of La Atalaya, in south of Tenerife. The production company is based in the Tropicana area of Adeje.

Vehicles spotted so far are a Porsche Cayenne, armed with a crane and camera on the roof. Also various Land Rovers, a 34 wheel trailer and one of the 3 Ford Mustang GT500 which was seen to be crushed by several tanks rolling over it on a 5km. stretch of the unfinished raod between Guia de Isora and Adeje.

The are reported to be over 1,500 people involved in the filming staying at the Palacio de Isora complex, including cameramen, pilots and other production personnel of production. They are also reported to have hired several drivers of the island to participate in some of the sequences and some private cars as extras for driving on the road.

The production company has requested the cooperation of municipalities of Adeje, Guía de Isora, El Tanque and Garachico, but may also use areas of Puerto de la Cruz, San Juan de la Rambla and Santa Cruz Tenerife (Tíncer, The Sobradillo and maybe Tres de Mayo). They have advised that the population of these areas may hear the odd ‘explosion’ and other ‘noises’ caused by some of the special effects used in the filming of the movie, which is expected to be released in May 2013.

the excat daily location of the filming is being kept a secret, but will continue on Tenerife until the 5th of November, when it will move over to the island of Fuerteventura.
