New Ryanair incident diverts Tenerife plane to Madrid

In what appears to be a series of safety related incidents affecting Ryanair flights, the latest incident involves a plane which was covering a route between the Paris Beauvais Airport and Tenerife Souths Reina Sofia airport which had to land in Madrid due to what the company has referred to as a ‘small technical problem’. The incident happened yesterday (Sunday 16th September) when the aircraft requested permission to land at Madrids Barajas airport. The plane landed without any problems at the Madrid airport at 14:43.

The company has apologised for the inconvenience to the 159 passengers, who were able to later complete their journey with a 2 hour delay, but has not announced what the ‘small technical problem’ was.

The incidents in the recent weeks concerning Ryanair have led the Ministry of Development to send a letter to the European Commissioner for Transport, Siim Kallas, and those responsible for the Civil Aviation Department to urge Ryanair to work on strengthening their aviation security.
