Sting’s June 2012 Tenerife concert cancelled

The Sting concert due to take place on the 30th of June this year in Tenerife will not take place, according to the company organising the event, Maldito Rodriguez. The transport costs for the concert were originally quoted as €30,000 but had risen to €185,000, over 5 times the budget. Over 13 counter offers were made by the organisers, but the costs cannot be lowered and therefore the concert has been definitively suspended.

The concert was due to take place in the football stadium Heliodoro Rodriguez Lopez in the capital of Tenerife, Santa Cruz later this month. Despite rumours of low ticket sales, the organisers claim the cancellation of the concert is not due to this, but the ‘last minute’ and ‘out of contract’ demands of Stings intermediary in mainland Spain, specifically with reference the the transport of trailers including a kitchen and offices.
