Cruise ships visit the Canaries bringing 21,000 visitors

Cruise ships are visiting the Canaries islands this weekend. The following ships visited the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife yesterday (Thursday, 3rd November 2011) : “Balmoral”, “Queen Mary 2,” “Liberty of the Seas” and “Voyager of the Seas”. They brought with them 10,000 passengers and 4,000 crew members. These ships have now all left Santa Cruz. The Queen Mary 2 is due to dock at the Puerto de La Luz harbour in Las Palmas this morning. The Liberty of the Seas left Tenerife towards La Palma. Four more ships visit Tenerife today, the “Marco Polo” which was due to dock on Sunday and the “Adventure of the Seas”, “Thomson Destiny” y “Costa Mediterránea”, which will bring 11,000 visitors to the island (8,000 passengers and 2,960 crew members). Is is noted that more than 151,000 visitors in 59 different cruise ships are calling at Tenerife this month (November 2011). Meanwhile, the passengers of the Queen Mary 2, which docked at Puerto de La Luz this morning, have been greeted with music, colour and information about the capital of Gran Canaria. The last time this ship docked in Las Palmas was in 2004.
