Airport handling staff announce strike dates in Spain

The workers unions CCOO, UGT and USO, who represent AENA airport handling staff, have called a strike for the ‘handling’ aspects of Spanish airports on the 18th and 26th August 2011. The first day of strike coincides with the arrival in Madrid of Pope Benedict XVI to celebrate World Youth Day. The strikes will be 24 hours long, over the two days of strike, and will start at 00.00 hours to 24.00 hours. The reasons for the call, the unions claimed, was due to “the repeated failure of the convention industry’s ‘handling services’ by the WFS and other business operators.”
