Unemployment rises in the Canaries

Unemployment has risen in the second trimester of 2011 in the Canary Islands. The number of unemployed has increased by 6.2% (19,400 people) when compared with the previous quarter in figures reported by the INE. 331,800 people were unemployed at the end of June 2011 in the Canary Islands, which is 14,500 more than a year ago. So far, in figures year on year, the islands unemployment figures have risen by 4.56%.
