Canary Islands lead Spain in occupation levels

The Canary Islands, with a 74.5% occupation level, was the highest region in Spain during February 2011. Overnight stays in hotels reached 14.2 million in February 2011, 5.4% more than the same period of 2010, while prices fell by 0.6%. German and British tourists saw an annual increase of 6.2% and 5.1% respectively, followed by French, Italian and Swedish. The average stay increased by 0.3% year on year, with three nights per visitor. The turnover per occupied room was at €68.90 on average (which represents an increase of €0.70 over the same period of 2010), and revenue per available room was €34.30.
