Canarian government goes to court over air strike

The Canarian government is to take legal actions and will go to court over the recent air traffic controllers walk out causing chaos in Spain and the Canaries when the whole of the Spanish air space was closed down (3rd/4th December 2010). It is also seeking compensation for the damage caused to the tourism industry and although it is not yet clear who the action will be taken against, the government blames the controllers directly. Nationally, the amount calculated in losses due to the strike is approximately €100.000.000 while the Tenerife council is estimating €17.500.000
