Air Berlin to drop Tenerife North next summer

Air Berlin yesterday announced that they will be dropping Tenerife North from their destinations next summer and said ‘it is not the time for experiments’. They went on to say that 2009 was a ‘difficult’ year and that so far this year, Tenerife North had seen a drop of over 10.000 passangers. They will, however, be adding 21% more seats to the Canaries this winter. Jose Bermudez, councelor for tourism, claimed not to be worried about this information, adding that most tourists visiting the northern area of Tenerife fly into the south of the island via Tenerife Sur and that he expects a better winter season this year because there are over 600.000 more seats available when compared to 2009.
