British Arrivals Up 14% On Lanzarote

The number of British tourists visiting Lanzarote increased by 14% last month. According to the latest figures just released by ISTAC (the Canarian Institute of Statistics). But the overall picture for the third most popular Canary Island wasn’t totally rosy in March. As arrivals from Germany and Eire fell.
Lanzarote welcomed a total of 75,407 British visitors last month, up from 66,239 arrivals in March 2009. An increase of nearly 14% – and getting close to pre-crisis 2008 passenger volumes when 82,940 tourists from the UK enjoyed a holiday on the island.
But the overall picture for the islands tourist industry remains a little less positive. As total foreign tourist arrivals rose by just 3.6%. And remain some 16% shy of the figures for March 2008. Whilst arrivals from Germany, Lanzarote´s second largest market fell by 14%. With the number of Irish visitors arriving on flights to Lanzarote dropping by 24% across the same period.
