British girl dies in Gran Canaria car accident

A British girl named as Abigail Harris, from Dewsbury, who was due to fly back to the UK three days ago but was stuck in the Canaries due to the volcanic ash, has died after being run over by a car in the tourist area of Mogan in the south of Gran Canaria on Sunday. The family had to extend their holiday due to flight cancellations because of the volcanic ash. Another person, a young boy named as Thomas T. was also injured during the accident. The authorities are now talking to witnesses and trying to establish who was driving the vehicle that caused the fatal accident. The families are said to have received immediate assistance from the British consulate in Gran Canaria.
