80% occupation level expected for Easter

An 80% occupation level is expected in the Canary Islands this Easter (29th March – 4th April) and the tourism sector is optimistic on the first holiday season of the year. Although when asked in more detail they are not as sure, mainly due to two reasons. Firstly, the tour operators are unable (or unwilling) to offer any guarantee on the number of tourists they will send and secondly due to the fact that there is an increasing trend for people to try and find last minute bargains mainly on the Internet. The president of FEHT estimates a similar occupation level as 2009 while the presdent of the FEAAV expects a 5% increase on last years figures.
