Problems at Islas Airways?

Islas Airways suffered an embarrassing problem yesterday when one of it’s planes was not allowed to fly due to ‘missing documentation’. The documents in question were taken from the aircraft, which was due to leave Gran Canarias Gando airport yesterday (Wednesday 3rd October) at 15:00, by a representative a the finance company who requested permission from the airports security department to access the airport runway. The aeroplane already had the staff and passengers on board, and was due to take off, when the finance company representative boarded the plane and took some documentation from the aircraft which is needed in order for the plane to be able to take off and fly.

This problem went on to affect six flights, three due to fly yesterday and another 3 which we due to fly today (Thursday 4th October). The routes affected are Gran Canaria – Tenerife North and Lanzarote. The total number of affected passengers yesterday was 74. An Islas Airways representative is playing down that yesterdays issue is related to ‘the delicate financial situation of the company’ and the rumours that its 160 staff have not been paid their salary for 3 months. AENA, Spains airport authority, is demanding that the airline pay their fees now on a daily basis.
