A woman died today when she was stabbed in the neck at an establishment in the Valdes Centre, Avenida Juan Carlos I, in Los Cristianos, Arona, in the south of Tenerife, according to 112 emergency sources. The incident occurred when a Bulgarian man entered a shop in the area and mortally wounded one of the assistants, of British origin, resident in the Canary Islands. The emergency services were alerted at 10:25. According to eyewitnesses, the alleged attacker, after cutting the throat of his victim left the shop with her head in his hand. It is not thought that there was a relationship between the aggressor and the victim.
The victim is reported to be a 61 year old British woman, who was a resident in the Canary Islands, in the Los Cristianos area, where the crime was commited.
The man, who commited the crime, a 28 year old Bulgarian man, was said to be homeless, had been arrested on numerous occasions.
The person who commited the crime had already been arrested three times this year (2011) and was known to the police, who have no record of him entering Spain or the Canary Islands.
