New 110km/h speed limit in Spain
As from the 7th March 2011 a new speed limit comes into effect for Spain and the Canary Islands, bringing the speed limit for motorways and dual carriages from 120km/h down to 110km/h. The reason behind this, according to the government, is to save fuel and increase fuel efficiency during the economic crisis. The cost of changing signs and posts is estimated to cost €250.000. This decrease will make Spain have one of the lowest speed limits in Europe.
