Alicante IKEA plans scrapped

Plans for an IKEA in Alicante have been scrapped after 8 years of campaigning.

The news comes after the town hall decided that the ponds and lakes where the store was planned to be built, were to become a protected area.

However, the prospect of a store locally has not been completely ruled out, with suggestions that a site in neighbouring Elche is now being considered.
