David Cameron cancels Gibraltar Referendum event after MP murder

UK Prime Minister David Cameron cancelled a vote remain campaign last night in Gibraltar following on from the death of British MP Jo Cox.

The Prime Minster, who was to be the first serving PM to visit the British Overseas Territory since 1968, cancelled his planned rally.

Politicians both here, and in the UK offered their condolences to the family of Jo Cox, as well as their condemnation of the attack. One man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

British Prime Minister David Cameron was to visit Gibraltar on Thursday 16th June, as part of the remain campaign ahead of next week’s referendum on the UK’s membership of the EU.

The visit comes after polls suggest that the leave vote has now gone into the lead. The UK goes to the polls next Thursday, and those who are wishing to post their postal votes are reminded that postal votes should be sent at least 4 working days before the vote, using the Correo Urgente Internacional (CUI) service.
