13-year-old girl raped in Tenerife

National Police are investigating an allegation of a serious sexual assault on a 13-year-old girl in Tenerife.

The young girl, understood to be from the Republic of Ireland, reported the assault in the early hours of Thursday morning. She told officers she was attacked at around 2am near to the Las Veronicas shopping centre in Playa de Las Americas.

Investigators fear that the perpetrator of the assault was a tourist, and may have already left the island.

The young girl became separated from her family whilst walking back to their holiday accommodation.
