Tenerife requests Thomas Cook back down on 5% discount demands

Jose Manuel Bermudez (Tenerife tourism council) has requested (in writing) that Thomas Cook back down on their decision to impose a 5% discount on hotel bills due to the recent Iceland volcanic ash problems encountered claiming that this will only worsen the current economic climate in the Canary Islands and the fact that the hotels already offered a discounted rate during the problems. He added that this demand could cause a strain in the relationship between Thomas Cook and the Tenerife council.
