King signs decree to call new elections

King Felipe VI signed the decree this morning meaning that Spain will go back to the polls on the 26th June.

The signing was the final act after months of inconclusive talks following December’s hung Parliament results.

The official start to the election will be on June 10th. Parliament has now been dissolved.

Current opinion polls hint towards a repeat of the December outcome, however that may change as the campaign gets underway.
