Beach evacuated after shark spotted off Tenerife beach

Security personnel have taken preventative measures and have today evacuated the beach located behind the Centro Comercial Las Veronicas in the toursit destination of Playa de las Americas on the south coast of Tenerife after a shark has reportedly been spotted.

The shark was allegedly spotted at around 2.30 this afternoon when swimmers on the beach were ordered out of the water to avoid possible incidents. According to reports, the shark is ‘small’ in size and was seen just four meters from the shore The Guardia Civil have been alerted and are trying to locate the shark.

This is the second time in recent weeks that there have been reports of sharks in the area. In September there were reports of shark sightings, this time the report was for a shark approximately 2 metres in length. The Guardia Civil were unable to locate the shark.
