Iberia cancels 433 flights as strikes continue

Iberia has cancelled a total of 433 flights next week between the 4th and March 8th 2013 as the strikes enter their second set of five day strikes called by workers unions representing Iberia staff against the companies restructuring plan which includes 3,807 dismissals.

During this second period, affecting flights programmed from Monday 4th to Friday 8th March, Iberia has cancelled a total of 433 flights (39% of the scheduled 1,113 flights, while 680 flights are protected by the minimum services guarantee).

The percentage of flights that remain in place are 85% of long haul flights, 62% of international medium haul and 47% of domestic flights, according to a statement from the airline.

Iberia has launched a plan to offer travel alternatives to customers affected by the cancellation of their flights due to the strikes, relocating passengers on other airlines with similar schedules to their flights or refunding the ticket price.
