Spains unemployment tops 5 million people
The number of unemployed people in Spain reached 5,040,222 people at the end of February 2013, this represents a rise of 59,444 (+1.19%) people when compared to the previous month. Year on year, this represents an increase of 328.124 people (+6,96%).
Unemployment among men stands at 2,503,626 representing an increase of 30,796 (+1.25%) and among women reached 2,536,596 an increase of 28,648 (+1.14%) when compared to the previous month of January 2013. Among people aged under 25, unemployment increased by 16,026 people (+3.46%).

The number of work contracts registered during the month of February 2013 was 949,844. Representing a decrease of 40,144 (-4.05%) over the same month of 2012. The total number of work contracts signed during the first two months of the year totalled 2,051,663, representing an increase of 19,481 (+0.96%) over the same period in 2012.
Registered unemployment fell in the Balearic Islands by 1,562 people.
