Unions representing Iberia announce 15 days of strikes

Unions representing Iberia ground staff and cabin crew announced yesterday fifteen days of strikes commencing the 18th February 2013, after a failed attempt to reach an agreement with the company even with mediation help from ‘SIMA’. The first week of strikes are between the 18th and 22nd February 2013, the following strikes are called for between 4th and 8th of March 2013 and finally from 18th to 22nd March 2013. According top the unions representing the workers, it is one of the largest strikes to affect Iberia and claim that it will cause some airports such as Medrid-Barajas to be ‘uncontrollable’ during the action.

The action is in protest of the companies decision to cut its headcount by 23% (around 4,500 people).
