€22.4 million to be spent on Adeje – Tenerife
It total, over €22.000.000 are to be spent on Adeje, in the south of Tenerife in an attempt to create a new facelift for the municipality to attract tourism. Work include a bicycle lane to join Adeje and Arona, a facelift for the bus station, restoration work to Playa Ajabo in Callao Salvaje and other work in tourist attraction areas of Adeje. Miguel Angel Santos, person responsible for tourism in Adeje, went on to say that there has been an increase in tourism of 2.72% (307.604 people) during the month of January when compared to figures for last year.
Other figures released went on to show that tourism in Adeje dropped by 12% in 2009 when compared to 2008 with an overall occupancy level of 56.69%
