Tourist Arrivals Up 3.28% On Lanzarote

Lanzarote, the third most visited island in the archipelago, recorded a 3.28% increase in foreign tourist arrivals last month. A performance some way ahead of the overall figure for the Canary Islands as a whole of 1.7%.

According to the latest data just released by Frontur the number of foreign tourists arriving on flights to Lanzarote rose from 118,894 passengers in January 2009 to 122,800 last month. An increase of 3.28%.

However these figures must also be viewed against the broader perspective of the economic crisis. Which had an enormous negative impact on tourist figures in January 2009. Which were down by 12.33% versus the same month in 2008, when the island welcomed 135,617 foreign arrivals.
