50% discount for tourist flight plans rejected
Paulino Rivero, president of the Canarian government yesterday rejected plans to offer a 50% discount on all air travel for tourists visiting the Canary Islands. quoting that the initiative ‘reduced the credibility of the islands’ and that ‘there were other things to fight for, such as reducing or eliminating airport taxes’. He went on to say that it was unfair that tourists traveling to the islands were to receive a 50% discount as if they were residents in the Canary Islands (Residents in the Canary Islands already enjoy a 50% discount on interisland travel).
