Tenerife power cut caused by a ‘drip of water’

The power cut that left the whole of the island of Tenerife without electricity from 12:08 to around 19:06 yesterday (Thursday 18th Jan 2010) was caused by a simple drip of water in the Undelco/Endesa’s building in Las Caletillas. The company say that the roof of one of their buildings suffered damage due to the bad weather and water was able to filter through and cause damage to a generator. All 467.464 of Unelco/Endesa’s clients lost power in their homes and businesses yesterday at 12:08 and at 19:06 only 83% haad power restored, their are still some clients and families without electricity. There is very strong criticism against the company as this is now the second time the whole island has lost electricity in less than a year.
