Missing 79 year old British tourist from Tenerife found on La Gomera

The 79 year old British tourist that went missing from an apartment in Arona (Tenerife) on Sunday (6th November 2011), and suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, was found yesterday (Tuesday 8th November 2011) in the town of Valle Gran Rey on the island of La Gomera after spending the night in the Hospital Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe in San Sebastián, the capital of La Gomera. He is due to return to Teneife today. Bob Kemter, 79 years old and living in the town of Essex in the UK, came with his wife Anne on Sunday to Tenerife to enjoy a holiday on the island. The couple have an apartment that they own in Port Royal, in Los Cristianos, a town which they are regular visitors to. After unpacking, Anne noticed the absence of her husband in the apartment, so she quickly began to look around the resort.

At the time of the disappearance he had no money or documentation and was in need of medication. After reporting the disappearance to the authorities, the British community in the south of the island performed various searches and scoured the area without positive results. The good news came during Tuesday morning when the family received a call from the island of La Gomera reporting the appearance of a man in the town of Valle Gran Rey whose description matched Mr. Kemter. He was slightly disoriented, but in good condition. After confirming his identity, he was taken to hospital where he was treated and spent the night under observation until Wednesday when his wife and daughter, who came from London, accompanied him back to Los Cristianos. The Guardia Civil in La Gomera are not able to explain how he could reach the island.
