Tenerife leads tourist arrivals
In the first six months of 2011, Tenerife received over two and a half million visitors. In a statement, the vice president and chief executive of the Cabildo Insular de Turismo, Carlos Alonso, explains that “this is some very good data that again emphasises that our competitiveness as a destination is very strong”. Alonso added: “The focus now is, on the one hand, maintain that leadership in the Archipelago, and secondly, ensure that this upward trend in passenger arrivals occur also in the second half of 2011”. The total number of passengers arriving from foreign airports in Tenerife amounted to 1.845 million. The most significant growth occurred in the UK, France or Scandinavian markets.
