EU says Spain needs to do more for refugees

Brussels has expressed its disappointment with the Spanish Government for not doing enough to help those displaced by the ongoing crisis in the Middle East.

Spain has only taken in 18 refugees since September 2015, and since the end of last year, Spain has not accepted any refugees from the Syrian conflict.

In March, the Spanish government promised to speed up that rate by accepting 467 new refugees within that same month, however that target was missed according to official figures.
