Third case of Zika detected in Canaries

The Department of Health has revealed that a third case of the Zika virus has been confirmed in the Canary Islands.

Authorities said that a 37-year-old woman who spent a month recently in South America is the latest to be diagnosed with the disease.

The news comes just four weeks after the first two cases in the Canaries, however authorities have again said the risk of transmission is virtually nil, as the breed of mosquito that transmits the disease is not found in the islands.
