Rise in flu cases down to cold spell

The warmer winter is being blamed for the late arrival of this years Flu season, after a sudden rise in cases in the region in March.

Hospitals in Alicante have said that they have seen a steep rise in the number of cases recently, with admissions more than doubling since February.

Officials have said that the recent cooler spell could be to blame for the sudden increase in cases. Over a quarter of a million flu vaccines were administered in the run up to winter last year.
